Cheese filtration

From milk
to make,
clean.

Every water, steam, milk and air contact in a cheese plant — from milk intake to the sterile gas over the packaging line — is a contamination event waiting to happen. We supply the filters that close every one of those gaps.

What's at stake

One bad batch
ends a
brand.

Spoiled milk · off-flavour · failed culture · recalled batch · a reputation that took decades to build.

Cheese making is a sequence of contact events from the moment milk enters the silo to the instant the cheese is sealed. Incoming milk carries particulate. Culinary steam carries boiler compounds and scale. Every tank-vent breathing cycle is a route for airborne bacteria into stored milk and starter culture. The sterile gas over the packaging line is the last unprotected point before the consumer.

Ultrafilter has supplied filtration to dairy and cheese lines — PF-PP food-contact pre-filters for process and plant water, P-GS VE sintered-stainless elements for culinary steam where steam contacts product and for CIP/SIP, P-BE breathers for silo and inoculant-tank venting, PF-PT PTFE membrane breathers as the alternative on those vents, and P-SRF sterile gas for process air and nitrogen. FDA 21 CFR per product DoC; EC 1935/2004 for P-SRF elements. P-GS and P-SWM steam elements comply with 3-A Accepted Practice 609-03 (manufacturer certificate on request). Every element ships with its datasheet and food-contact Declaration of Conformity; sterile elements also with integrity-test record and validation guide.

Each of the twelve markers is a real filtration duty on a cheese process line. Pick one — the read-out shows what's at risk, the exact Ultrafilter element and how to spec it.

    Designing a new
    cheese line?

Send us a P&ID, a flow rate, or just the duty — food-contact pre-filtration, culinary steam, CIP/SIP, tank vents or sterile process air. We size the train and ship the documentation: datasheet and food-contact DoC, plus integrity-test record and validation guide for sterile elements.
