Steam filtration · Technical guide

P-GS · P-GS VE · P-SWM
One family. Three constructions. When to use which.

All three are sintered or pleated-mesh stainless steam filter elements with the same 1/5/25 µm absolute retention grades. They differ in end-cap construction, filter area, maximum Δp and operating temperature — not in what they remove.

What makes them different

P-GS
Standard sintered SS 316L

Weldless sintered 316L. Bonding material Plastic Steel; > 150 °C: welded end caps. The standard choice for culinary and clean steam. The range is −20 °C to 210 °C.

Retention: 1 / 5 / 25 µm absolute · Δp 5 bar · Area 0.049 m²
P-GS VE
Welded end caps — same element

Identical sintered 316L element to P-GS, but with welded end caps. Welded end caps for temperatures above 150 °C. Filter medium and end caps are made of stainless steel. Solid-particle filter — no pre-separator, no condensate function. Regenerable by ultrasonic bath or back-flush.

Retention: 1 / 5 / 25 µm absolute · Δp 5 bar · Temp −20…+210 °C
P-SWM
Pleated wire mesh — 3× area

Pleated stainless wire mesh, same 1/5/25 µm absolute retention as P-GS/P-GS VE. Three times the filter area (0.18 m²) and twice the maximum Δp (10 bar). For high-flow, heavy dirt-load, pulsed or high-pressure steam duty. Regenerable by ultrasonic bath or back-flush.

Retention: 1 / 5 / 25 µm absolute · Δp 10 bar · Area 0.18 m²

When to choose which

All three filter to the same absolute grades. The decision is about construction, temperature and duty cycle.

P-GS
Standard culinary or clean steam. Short-to-medium runs from a well-maintained boiler. Bonding material Plastic Steel; > 150 °C: welded end caps.
P-GS VE
Welded end caps for temperatures above 150 °C, or where an all-welded-metal construction is required. Same filtration performance as P-GS; the "VE" suffix denotes the welded end-cap variant only.
P-SWM
High flow-rate or heavy particle load, pulsed steam service, or applications requiring a higher Δp rating (up to 10 bar). An alternative to sintered P-GS elements — not a coarse pre-filter; it filters to the same 1/5/25 µm grades.
